Auditory Training

Johansen Individualised Auditory Stimulation

Johansen Individualised Auditory Stimulation programme is a therapy tool that I have used since 2012 with a range of clients who have inefficient listening or auditory processing.

Johansen IAS is a home based Sound Therapy programme which involves listening to specially recorded music for 10 minutes a day using over the ear headphones.  Johansen IAS music is specifically designed to gently change and organise auditory processing by stimulating the nerve pathways into and within the brain – in particular the areas dealing with language.

Johansen IAS can be of benefit to children as young as three years old, as well as adolescents and adults.  Children from 7 years old can have their own customised CDs made according to information gained from individual assessment, including audiometry where appropriate.

It may help people with speech and language difficulties, early hearing problems, hearing sensitivities, dyslexia, ADHD, ADD, autism, developmental delays or poor concentration.

I have found that Johansen IAS can be very beneficial to a number of my clients when it is done in conjunction with speech and language therapy. However, other clients come to me just for Johansen IAS or may be referred by a speech and language therapist colleague who does not offer auditory stimulation.
